QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Everything you might ask before you scan your first paper.

Short, straight answers. Still stuck? Get in touch and a human will reply.

The basics

What is Peta AI?

Peta AI is a native iOS app that scans your handwritten GCSE and A-level past papers and marks them against the official mark schemes — awarding marks and examiner-style annotations on every question, in under 60 seconds.

Point your phone at the paper. Peta reads it, finds the exact mark scheme, and hands you back a marked script with your grade and what to fix next.

Which exam boards and subjects are supported?

Peta marks against the official AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC mark schemes.

We are launching with Maths and the Sciences and expanding into essay-based subjects — History, English, Sociology and more — with levels-based AO1 / AO2 / AO3 marking.

Which devices does Peta run on?

Peta is a native iOS app for iPhone and iPad at launch. Join the waitlist to be told the moment it lands — and when other platforms follow.

How the marking works

How accurate is the marking?

Peta matches your paper to the exact official mark scheme and awards method marks, accuracy marks and AO weightings the way a trained examiner would — partial credit included.

It is built to be examiner-accurate, but it is a revision aid. It is not an official result and does not replace the marking done by your exam board.

Does Peta read my handwriting?

Yes — Peta reads handwritten answers straight from the page. There is nothing to type up. Clear, reasonably legible handwriting gives the best results.

How long does a paper take to mark?

Scanning a full paper with continuous auto-capture takes under 60 seconds, and your marked script comes back moments after the final page. No uploading PDFs, no waiting.

What if my paper isn't in the catalogue?

Our mark-scheme catalogue grows constantly. If Peta can't find an exact match for a paper, it will tell you rather than guess — and you can let us know which paper you need so we can prioritise it.

Is my data and are my scanned papers private?

Your papers are processed to produce your marks and feedback — they are not sold. Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what we collect, how it is used, how long we keep it and your rights under UK GDPR.

Is Peta affiliated with the exam boards?

No. Peta is an independent revision tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to AQA, Edexcel/Pearson, OCR or WJEC. Those names and mark schemes are the property of their respective owners.
